Parents who love their children

It's not uncommon for parents to have difficulty expressing their affection directly to their children. Instead, the expression of love is posted on the parent's social media accounts.

Not only mothers, but also fathers express their love for their children on the Fesbuk timeline.

"Congratulations, my youngest child. Mama's son is the best," said Mrs Grace Silitonga when her son won the third place in the swimming competition.

"Dorma, my sweetheart, you are indeed a mummy's boy. I'm proud of you for qualifying for the Social Studies Olympiad," said Dorma's mother Boru Naiborhu.

"My daughter, Resna is the reason I fight in life," wrote Mr Ondo Hutagaol while uploading a photo of his daughter.

There are still many expressions of love conveyed through social media by parents to their children, such as my sunshine, my encouragement, my only daughter, mummy's child, papi's child, the light of my life, and so on.

Unfortunately, these words are only virtual expressions in cyberspace. Because when at home, children actually feel alien to their parents.

But this is one of the great things about social media: it provides a blank space for anyone who wants to write what's on their mind, including those who feel they need to be noticed.

Including parents who want to be recognised by the world as the parent who loves their children the most. Amazing, isn't it?
